Party assessment
How are the parties assessed?
Ideocube compares your result with political parties using a common method. The aim is not to tell you who to vote for, but to help you understand, in a consistent way, where your answers converge with and diverge from the public positions of the different parties.
The same grid for participants and parties
Parties are assessed on the topics covered by the questionnaire, based on their public positions. These positions are translated into the same answer grid as the one offered to participants.
The same questions, topics, weightings and calculation rules are then applied. Each party therefore gets a position that can be compared with a participant’s on Ideocube’s three main dimensions: Economy, Society and State.
This method makes it possible to compare on a common basis. It does not mean that a political platform can be perfectly summed up by a few scores: the results remain a simplified representation, designed to make reading and comparison easier.
Two ways of measuring proximity
Ideocube offers two complementary methods:
- Proximity by ideological position measures the distance between your position and a party’s on the axes calculated by Ideocube.
- Answer agreement compares your answers more directly with the positions attributed to the party on the questionnaire topics.
Two profiles can end up with a similar overall position while disagreeing on several specific questions. Conversely, they can share many answers without getting exactly the same scores. Showing both methods therefore avoids a single indicator summing up the whole comparison.
For each party, Ideocube also shows the main points of agreement and disagreement. Free access provides the comparison on the three main dimensions. Premium features let you refine the rankings, agreements and disagreements by applying a topic filter.
An analysis applied without political bias
No answer is considered right or wrong. The same rules apply to all participants, all ideologies and all political parties. Ideocube therefore lets you compare your results with the political parties of your choice, without prejudice.
Unless expressly stated, Ideocube is not affiliated with any of the parties shown and does not seek to favor any opinion or party. A party’s place in a ranking only reflects the result of the comparison method used. It is neither an endorsement, nor a recommendation, nor voting advice.
Positions that can change
A party’s political line, its proposals or the way a topic is framed can change over time. Assessments may therefore be updated when new information becomes relevant or when a previously attributed position turns out to be inaccurate or outdated.
An update to a position, a question, a weighting or the methodology may change the scores and rankings displayed, including for a Result that has already been created.
How to suggest a correction
Any user signed in to their account can report a position that seems incorrect, outdated or missing and suggest a correction for free, together with a justification and at least one verifiable source. They can do so directly from their results or from the Positions page, which shows each party’s positions question by question and is open to accounts created at least 24 hours ago.
Links cited as sources undergo an automatic security analysis before the suggestion is published. A suggestion containing a link deemed dangerous is blocked.
The suggestion is then put to a community vote for 14 days. The vote is on the relevance of the suggested correction, not on whether voters agree or disagree politically with the position concerned. Votes from accounts created less than 72 hours ago are recorded, but only count once that period has passed.
The outcome of the vote is a signal, not an automatic decision: each correction is reviewed by the Ideocube team before it is applied. Ideocube may therefore moderate, ask for clarification on or reject a suggestion that is insufficiently supported, misleading, abusive or unrelated to the position being assessed, and any user can report an abusive suggestion. This process keeps the data up to date while preventing an isolated change from being applied unchecked.
A comparison to keep in perspective
The attributed positions are based on the information considered relevant and on how it is interpreted within the Ideocube grid. Some topics may be missing, ambiguous or open to several reasonable readings. Interpreting the answers is therefore a matter of judgment, which may vary from one user to another.
The ranking should therefore be used as a tool for exploration. To form a complete opinion, it is still worth consulting the platforms, positions and public sources of the parties concerned directly.
